Jason Mitchell - Co-Owner

Jason is the co-owner of the Arizona Heat Elite Training Center. He has a Bachelors Degree from Grand Canyon University in English Education and a Masters Degree from the University of Phoenix in Administration. He was a junior high English teacher in Gilbert for seven years and has his Principal's Certificate from Department of Education. He was a cheerleader for 16 years and has coached for the past 17 years. Jason worked for the National Cheerleaders Association for ten years as a professional cheerleader, teaching camps across the country and in Japan. He has choreographed and trained many nationally ranked teams at all levels junior high, high school, collegiate and all-stars throughout the years. Jason and his wife Krystal have spoken and judged at the state and national level. Jason is certified through the USASF, National Federation, AFFA, CPR and Sports Safety. Jason and Krystal have been married for nine years with three daughters ages eight, six, and three.

Krystal Mitchell Co-Owner

Krystal is the co-owner fo the Arizona Heat Elite Training Center. She has been involved in the cheerleading industry for 17 years. Prior to working in the cheerleading business, Krystal was a sales consultant and manager for three national companies. Krystal has over 15 years of sales and marketing experience. Krystal spent five years working for Cheerleader and Danz Team as a territory manager and three years working for the National Cheerleaders Association. She has spoke and judged for several state and national companies for the past seven years. Krystal has been married to Jason Mitchell for the past nine years and they have three daughters ages eight, six, and three years old. Krystal is certified through the USASF, the National Federation, CPR and Sports Safety Certification through the American Red Cross.

Ryan Baptista - Coach and Director of Operations

Ryan has worked for the Arizona Heat Elite for the past six years. He was a competitive gymnasts for seven years and competed with the Arizona Heat Elite Open Team for three years where they were named national champions three years in a row. Ryan is currently a student at Arizona State University. Ryan has been certified in CPR, Sports Safety and First Aid, and the United States All-Star Federation.

Dustin Santoni

Dustin is an original team members from our first competitive team in 1997 coming to us with an extensive background in gymnastics. After four years competing with the Arizona Heat Elite, he went on to cheer at Arizona State University for two years and then on to the University of Kentucky where he received two collegiate national championships. Dustin spent his summers working for a professional cheerleading company, Universal Cheerleaders Association, teaching cheerleading camps across the country and in Germany. We are excited to have Dustin back with the Arizona Heat family not only because of his knowledge and experience, but the great motivation he has for our team members to continue to progress and improve.

Autumn Montgomery

Autumn has been part of the Arizona Heat Elite for the past five years. She has been coaching for two years and is starting her first season coaching competitive teams. She has competed with the first coed team to compete at the Cheerleading Worlds from Arizona. She has also competed with several national champion teams at the junior high and high school level.

Adriana Tirado

Adrianna has been coaching with the Arizona Heat Elite for the past seven years. She was a cheerleader in high school and on the first Arizona Heat Elite Competitive Team in 1997. Adrianna worked as a professional cheerleading instructor upon graduating from high school for two years where she travel across the country teaching cheerleading camps. Adrianna currently works for a Title Company during the day and is certified in CPR as well as Sports Safety. She also is credentialled with the United States All-Star Federation. Adriana has coached several national champion teams in her last seven years of coaching.

Debbie Arenz - Strength and Conditioning Coach

Debbie has been in the Health and Fitness industry for over 15 years. She holds a Masters degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Houston and a Bachelors degree in Health and Kinesiology from Texas A&M University. Debbie has been a certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor fromthe American College on Exercise (ACE) since 1993 and is also a certified instructor in Yoga Fit, Mat Flex, Indoor Cycling, Core Board, CPR and First Aid. Prior to moving to Arizona, Debbie served as the Department Head and Physical Education & Health Instructor at Tarrant County College in Arlington, Texas. She currently teaches Physical Education in Gilbert.

Kortnee Johnson
Kortnee Johnson has been a teacher of Hip Hop, Clogging, and Jazz. Dancing since she was 5 years old, performing has been her forte. She has professional experience in musicals produced by Merrill Osmond. Teaching and choreography has been part of her life for the last ten years either at her own studio in Utah, for other studios, also as a dance sponsor at Snow College where she received her Associates Degree. Kortnee is an exceptional teacher with a positive attitude and is lots of fun to work with . . . she has contagious enthusiasm and is a special addition to the team at Arizona Heat.

Jenna Colburn

Jenna is USASF and CPR certified and she holds 2 personal training certifications. She also hold certifications in aerobic instruction, nutrition coaching, and bootcamp instruction. Jenna is an ex-elite level competitive gymnasts and a high school and competitive cheerleader. Jenna has been part of the Arizona Heat Elite now for the past six years, while returning back to AZ from CA with her husband Trey. Jenna is currently pursuing her degree in Excersize Science.

Linda Kramer

Linda has been with the Arizona Heat Elite since 1999. She is a great coach and strong competitor. Linda is in her third year coaching for the Arizona Heat Elite Cheer Center and is certified in CPR.

Amanda Berman
This is Amanda's first year coaching for Arizona Heat Elite. She was the captain of her high school team and all star team in Northern California, where she cheered for four years. She has been coaching for six years and has coached a variety of teams from Pop Warner to elite levels. She is now attending Arizona State University. She is majoring in human communication, travel and tourism and mass communication in hopes to eventually work in a Public Relations Firm. She loves coaching and is excited to be a part of the positive and successful atmosphere that Heat has to offer.

 

Angela Oslon

Angela recently moved to the state of Arizona and began coaching with Arizona Heat Elite in January 2008. Angela is a former competitive gymnast and has coached gymnastics and tumbling classes for the past 9 years. She recently graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy and works as a pediatric occupational therapist in Gilbert, AZ. Kaeli Lessley - Instructor

Kaeli has been with Arizona Heat as both a member and a coach since 1997. The past 2 years she has spent coaching our competitive teams. Kaeli is in her sophomore year at Arizona State University where she is majoring in Kinesiology and is looking for a career in forensics.

Shannon Lang - Director of School Instruction and Team Training

Shannon Lang is the Director of School Team Training for Arizona Heat. Shannon has a Bachelor's Degree from Eastern Michigan University, with a Major in English and a Minor in Science. Her background emphasis comes from extensive training in dance, gymnastics, baton, pom and cheer. Shannon is a former twirler for the Detroit Lions, received a scholarship to college for baton and holds numerous state and national titles in baton and dance. Upon college graduation, she began her coaching career in Michigan leading teams to state and national titles. In 1996, she and her husband moved to ARizona, Since then, she has taught dance and coached cheer in Mesa schools for 12 years. She is currently the varsity cheer and pom coach at Dobson. Shannon is married and has 3 children, one of which is on the Level 5 Junior team at Heat.

 - Dustin Koontz -Director of  Human Resources & Coach

Dustin has been with Arizona Heat since 1996 and has been on the junior, senior and college level teams. He has won many national championships as a team member at each level and 3 as part of a single base team. He has been coaching for Arizona Heat since 2000 and won national championships with many different level teams. Dustin graduated from ASU with a degree in finance in 2007 and is now the director of classes for the gym. He also coaches the advanced tumbling classes and the senior level 5 Hotness team. Dustin is now also the HR representative for Arizona Heat’s staff.

Devon Etzen  - Instructor

Devon grew up in Iowa where she learned to cheer. She graduated from the University of Iowa and now teaches 1st grade at Hale Elementary in Mesa. Devon has been coaching with Arizona Heat over the past 2 seasons, focusing on coaching our younger members.

 

Tommy Velasquez – Instructor and Team Coach

Tommy spent 4 years in gymnastics which led him to start cheering in high school. He has spent 2 years in high school cheer where he won a state championship as well as 3 years on a competitive team at Arizona Heat. The past 3 seasons Tommy attended Trinity Valley Community College in Texas where he won a national championship. Tommy currently works with a number of our teams and coaches tumbling classes as well.

Gabe Estrella – Instructor & Team Coach

Gabe has been a part of the Arizona Heat family since 2001. He has cheered at Nogales high school and been a member of the Arizona Heat College team as well as spent a number of years coaching. Gabe has just returned to us from a 4 year stint in the Army. This season Gabe is working with a number of our teams and coaches most of our tumbling for our team members.  Gabe also teaches our Boot Camps, bringing his military work outs to you!

Rene Marquez - Instructor

Rene started as a member of Arizona Heat in 2004 where he won a national championship and was on the Internation Open Worlds Team in 2008. The past 2 seasons, Rene has been coaching tumbling classes in the gym and is currently pursuing a degree in sports medicine.

 

Derek Luetjen – Instructor and Tumbling Coach

Derek started coaching for Arizona Heat in the summer of 2008 and came to us from KC Cheer. He has spent 10 years in gymnastics, 3 of which spent coaching, as well as 6 years of cheerleading experience in which Derek has been part of two teams that have made it to second day at Worlds. Derek is currently attending Collins College pursuing a degree in 3D computer animation
